Feathery brows are back in a big way. So you might think eyebrow waxing is unhelpful for the trend.
But there are feathery brows – and then there’s the Noel Gallagher look.
Brows provide a perfect frame to the face whether you’re a guy or a girl. So you’re definitely right to investigate eyebrow waxing.
And 99% of women and 60% of men remove body hair on a regular basis. So you’re not alone.
Read on to discover the secrets of eyebrow waxing!
Why do I want to use wax? Won’t it hurt?
Sure, but using tweezers can hurt too. And you have to pluck on a regular basis.
Eyebrow waxing is one “ouch” in a single move, no more repetitive “pluck and OW”. And you only need to do it every 6-8 weeks or so.
Some say you shouldn’t tweeze the hairs on your forehead. But that hurts more than tweezing below the brow.
So decide what your own needs are. Can you live with tweezing below the brow and waxing above?
Or do you need to wax below and tweeze between? It’s up to you. But waxing will get rid of your monobrow in one fell swoop.
Eyebrow waxing using strips
Strips are probably the easiest way to bring eyebrow waxing into your routine. But the wax needs something to grip, so the hair should be at least 1/4 of an inch long.
Hold the strip between the palms of your hands. You want the wax to be soft enough to be pliable – but not melted.
Peel off the backing once the strip feels warm. Apply to the forehead above the brow to catch those straggly hairs.
When you press the strip on, do it in the direction the hair grows.
Now the wax needs to be able to grip the hair. So smooth the strip down onto the area a few times.
Then when you pull it off, pull in the opposite direction of hair growth.
And when we say pull, make sure you pull. It’ll hurt more and can damage the skin if you peel the strip off slowly.
It will feel uncomfortable at first. But it’s less painful than repeatedly going in with the tweezers.
The beauty of using strips is that the wax comes pre-loaded. So no more guessing how much to use.
And it’s a whole lot easier to warm a strip in your hands. You don’t have to worry about warming a whole tub.

How do you use hard wax for eyebrows?
Using wax from a tub lets you apply the wax where it’s needed. So it has its appeal if you want more targeted waxing.
Our VidaSleek Hard Wax Kit for the face is our latest, most innovative product doesn’t even need fabric strips! because it will only grab the hairs, not the delicate facial skin itself.
The wax firms as it cools and turns into its own strip. Let it firm and pull! It’s ideal for short, coarse hair.
And whatever you do, don’t use body wax on your face! It’s not formulated for use on such delicate skin.
Try to find a formula designed especially for the face.
Ideally, you want an all-natural wax for the best experience. They’re safer for the skin and they don’t contain irritants.
Worst of all, low quality waxes might even leave you with uneven results and injure your skin.
Strips make it easy to wax in one go. But using wax from a tub is a little more tricky. You might not feel brave enough.
One way to get around it is to work in thirds. Start with the outer tail, and work your way inwards.
Get started
Pop the container of wax in the microwave. It only needs to be warmed for 2-3 minutes, and if you’ve already used the wax and there’s less than half in it, just heat it for half the amount of time.
When it’s done, stir it thoroughly. It should feel like a warm gel/honey.
Use a round ended Popsicle stick. Apply a thick layer of wax while it’s still warm.
Then allow the wax to harden for about 10-20 seconds…be sure it is still semi soft, otherwise the hard wax will break up into pieces and be difficult to remove.
Then, with your fingers, flick up the edge of the hardened wax, grab the edge and very quickly remove the strip. Remember to go in the opposite direction to hair growth. Don’t pull upwards.
Use our post wax oil to soothe the skin and remove any remaining wax residue when you’re finished. And then your eyebrow waxing is done!
Helpful tips
Whichever option you prefer, you need a guide before you start waxing.
An easy solution is to fill in your brows with dark eye shadow or brow pencil first. Then just wax the area that lies outside of the brow shape.
It’s a better option than using an eyebrow stencil. They’re good in theory but they don’t take your face shape into account.
While you’re filling in the brows, stand back from the mirror. It’ll give you a better perspective on what the final look will be.
Remember you want a look that will flatter your face. Don’t feel you have to copy what everyone else has! Be proud of your own facial structure.
And if you’re waxing the area between your brows, you still need guides. The start of your brow should line up with the top of your nose.
And no matter which option you choose, leave the area alone for at least an hour. You need to let the skin settle down before you apply anything else.
Hopefully we’ve helped to demystify the process of eyebrow waxing. It’s safe and easy to do at home. You can take control of the spiraling costs of your beauty routine.
